Roding Valley's Media department has grown in size over the years. With technology improving all the time, video editing can now be done fairly easily and inexpensively on a regular PC or Mac. Students in year 11 can now use Pinnacle Studio software to edit their raw footage, add visual effects, music, titles and scene transitions.
Students are encouraged to plan their short films or movie trailers down to the last detail. This means planning camera angles, storyboarding scenes, writing scripts and music cue sheets. Once all the filming is done, students spend a number of sessions editing the movie down to size.
Creating short films is a fascinating and enjoyable project to undertake. This is borne out by the number of students choosing to do the film making module as part of their media course.
