About Us

Welcome to the Roding Valley School Website

Thank you for visiting us and I hope to be able to give you a flavour of what this school is like.

Our school motto is 'Achievement for All' and these three key words sum up what this school is all about. Our aim is to enable every single one of our students to be a positive, cooperative and productive member of society and to be able to enjoy a happy and healthy lifestyle.

In order to achieve this, we all work extremely hard to give them as full and as round an education as we possibly can. This means ensuring that they gain their best possible exam results and that they are also able to develop the self confidence and belief necessary to make good decisions in both their working and personal lives. I believe that the secret of a successful life is about making the right decisions and people who are successful in both their personal and working lives achieve this through making more good decisions than bad ones.

How do we do this?

1. We constantly evaluate the curriculum on offer to ensure it is meeting the needs of our students and support and develop our staff so that they can deliver it effectively (hence our Investors in People status). The Key Stage 4 curriculum (Years 10 and 11) has been recently reorganised and the significant rise in results this year (2006) is largely due to this. Further developments are already in place to start in September 2006. Each student is set their own academic targets and these are regularly reviewed and monitored to ensure they remain on track.

We also provide a wide range of other activities - clubs, trips, visits, residentials (including the Duke of Edinburgh scheme) as well as productions and performances thanks to our Performing Arts Specialist status gained in September 2005. Every one of these opportunities is 'open access' - any student can take part. We run a very comprehensive rewards programme.

2. A significant strength of this school is its support network - I have invested heavily in Pastoral staffing and structures. As well as fully qualified Heads of Upper and Lower school and Year Heads led by a senior Pastoral Deputy Head, we have an outstanding SEN department and Learning Support Unit as well access to expert counselling plus peer support and peer counselling. It is not easy being a teenager nowadays and we certainly do all that we can to care for our students.

National test results have risen significantly this year and we intend for them to continue rising - click here to view our school's Results

This is only a 'flavour' - for much more detail, investigate our links. The 'ParentMail' link will give you the best up to date details of the school. If you want to know what our parents and students think of us - click on the Keele Survey within the parent info page.

Any further queries - please don't be afraid to contact us.
